Undergraduates

We typically provide on-site college accommodation for first-year and final-year students. Many students in their second and fourth years tend to ‘live out’ in privately rented accommodation.

On-site accommodation is made up of single study bedrooms with shared facilities, typically allocated to first-year students, and flats with several bedrooms and a shared kitchen and bathroom, usually allocated to third-year students. Most of our residents have access to shared kitchens, enabling you to self-cater if you choose. All rooms have access to the University’s wireless internet.

Our termly rent for 2026/2027 is £1,993.61 for 59 nights (Wednesday 0th Week to Friday 8th Week inclusive), with vacation residence charged at £33.79 per night. Accommodation charges include all utilities and services.

All students in receipt of a maintenance loan staying in accommodation on the main site will receive a termly bursary of £59, allocated directly against their accommodation charges.

Regent’s Park College adheres to UUK Accommodation Code of Practice.

We offer three meals a day Monday to Friday during term: breakfast (8.30am – 9:30am), lunch (12:30pm – 1.30pm) and dinner (6.15pm – 7.00pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday; 7pm Tuesday and Friday).

All of our meals are served in the main dining hall (Helwys Hall) and are prepared by our in-house catering team. Most meals are cafeteria style, with students only paying for what they eat from a variety of options to suit different budgets and dietary needs. Unlike many other colleges, we do not charge any fixed kitchen charge on top of these meal costs.

On Tuesday and Friday evenings, we have a three-course waiter-served meal, known as Formal Hall, when many of the College community come together. Students and staff wear gowns and dress more formally, and students may bring their own wine. Many people also bring guests.

Throughout the year, we also host special dinners and events, including Advent Dinner, Halfway Hall (for second years), Finalists’ Dinner, Burns’ Night Formal, and special themed food evenings.

Our typical meal prices are as follows:

• Lunch: £3.90/£4.90 for main course, yoghurt 55p, fresh fruit 45p
• Dinner: £3.90/£4.90 for main course, pudding £1.50
• Formal Hall: £10.90 for three course served meal

You’ll be part of the Junior Common Room (JCR), which is the collective name for the undergraduate social community, as well as the physical common room – a space open 24/6 to all college members. It has comfortable sofas, a table tennis and football table, darts board, a TV and Wii, and a (much-loved) free bean-to-cup coffee machine. There is also the JCR bar (the cheapest college bar in Oxford), which is open most evenings.

The JCR hosts regular social events during term, from parties and pub quizzes to film nights and pizza evenings. We also have our own annual Regent’s pantomime and our summer ball, the Final Fling. Twice a day, every weekday, students meet in the JCR for ‘Brew’, where they take the time to unwind over a free cup of tea and a biscuit.

Many JCR members get involved in extra-curricular activities. We have students engaged with University and College sports teams, musical and dramatic productions, academic societies and interest groups, and student politics and journalism. Each year, we recognise our students’ achievements in the wider university at the Recognition Dinner.

Our small and friendly community means that we provide excellent welfare provision to all of our students. At Regent’s, everyone is known by name, cared for within the community, and treated with respect. There is a range of informal and formal welfare support available.

Within the JCR, there are several student-elected welfare representatives – The Welfare Information Officers, Women’s* Welfare Representative, Men’s* Welfare Rep, LGBTQ+ Welfare Rep, Global Majority and Ethnic Minority Welfare Rep, and International/Visiting Student Rep. All welfare officers and representatives are trained Peer Supporters.

There is a strong network of welfare and wellbeing support among college staff, too. We have a Head of Welfare, who is also our Chaplain, a Welfare Lead, and a College Counsellor, as well as two Junior Deans.

Regent’s has an excellent relationship with the University’s support services, and we regularly facilitate access to, and work alongside, the University’s Disability Advisory Service (DAS) and Counselling Services.

Applicants are able to specify either a college (or PPH) as their ‘college of preference’ when using the UCAS application system. There is a drop-down list from which candidates can select their choice, each of which have ‘campus codes.’ Regent’s Park College is campus code 8.

Regent’s participates in the annual Oxford University Open Days (usually in July and September), but those interested in seeing the College and meeting staff and/or students are very welcome to make an appointment to come and look around at other convenient times. Some courses are required to sit Admissions Tests as part of the application process. You can find out which test(s) you will need to sit on the University website.

Some courses require you to submit written work as part of your application. If you are unsure about written work requirements, you can check the University website.

If you are required to submit written work, the deadline is 10 November 2026. To submit your written work, please send a scanned copy with the required coversheet as a PDF to written.work@regents.ox.ac.uk. We are unable to accept work that is hosted on file sharing sites such as Google Drive or Dropbox.

Interviews take place in December each year, usually across 2-3 days. The format for interviews varies a little from subject to subject: most require written work to be submitted in advance, and some require applicants to sit an unseen test as part of the interview process.

Candidates who are shortlisted for interview will be contacted by email at least one week before their interviews are due to take place. We aim to send out shortlisting decisions sooner than a week before, but this is not always possible. It is possible that candidates in different subjects or colleges may hear at a different time to you; do not worry if this is the case, as there can be significant differences between courses and colleges. If you have not received any communication a week before interviews are due to start, please contact admissions@regents.ac.uk as soon as possible.

If you have a disability or Specific Learning Difficulty that you have not already disclosed on your UCAS application, please let us know. Whether you have disclosed your disability on UCAS or not, please indicate if there are any special arrangements or support that would help you, so that we can make any appropriate, reasonable arrangements for you in good time if you are invited to interview.

Mentioning your disability or SpLD will not affect your application, as admissions decisions are made solely on the ground of academic merit. Information provided may be shared with colleagues in the college or University who would be involved with making any required arrangements. Regent’s will respond to requests from applicants for feedback received by 15 February. Departmental feedback reports are published by each of the departments and faculties.
