If you are already in ministry, Regent’s has a number of different ways we can support your ongoing development.
If you are a Newly Accredited Minister of the Baptist Union of Great Britain, you may choose to have your Learning Contracts with us. This involves a programme of self-study working with a tutor and attending our annual NAMs conference, which takes place annually in September. If you are looking to deepen your understanding in a way that enables theological reflection upon experience, then the MTh is designed specifically for this.
The Centre for Baptist Studies supports the continuing development of Baptist ministers through sabbaticals, learning events and responding to requests from Associations or ministers.
It supports UK ministers in engaging with the Continuing Ministerial Development Handbook in particular the five habits of learning, attentiveness, accountability, connection and review. See the Baptist Union website for more information.
Our aim is to provide a culture of learning and trust based on the expertise and engaging pedagogy that Regent’s offers, so that ministers will regularly use our resources for their continuing ministerial development.
The Centre for Baptist Studies
Below are the continuing ministerial opportunities we offer at Regent’s. A two-hour session with Regent’s tutors costs £40 per participant, with a discount offered for groups of three or more ministers.
These bespoke courses have varied in length from one-off day sessions to short series. Previously, we have covered topics such as ‘Continuing Ministerial Development Habits’ and ‘Attentiveness.’ In future, we are considering courses relating to ‘Male Allyship responding to Project Violet’, ‘Governance’, and ‘Church Meetings.’
We encourage Associations (and/or others) to commission practice-led research in the model of Project Violet to enable deeper thinking around questions relevant to Baptist ministers today.
This might involve one or two online sessions for a minister or a group of ministers who want to learn about and reflect on theology and the Bible, or on aspects of ministry, with someone from Regent’s.
The opportunity to stay at Regent’s Park College for a week, with access to the College Library and tutorials. In addition, you can work online with a tutor for 2-3 sessions. You can read our sabbatical brochure here.
